Erik Zanotti

Erik Zanotti is currently enrolled at the Post-graduate School for Archaeology at the University of Bologna. His research is focused on the understanding of the Bronze Age settlement pattern in the Apennines of Emilia Romagna. Having previously worked in China, his interests also walk east on the Silk Road going beyond the borders of Europe, reason why he is also a member of the UIAP Mission to Samarkand. His interests center around ancient landscape reconstruction, Bronze Age human mobility and archaeometallurgy. Mountaineer by birth, made Upland Archaeology an ulterior predictable passion.

Marie-Estelle Ölz is currently pursuing her first year of the masters in Applied Critical Archaeology and Heritage at the University of Bologna, Italy. Previously, she graduated from Leiden University College with a degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences: Culture, History and Society. Her academic focus today lies in landscape archaeology, specifically archaeobotany. She is interested in issues relating to landscape modification, plant domestication, and climate change and the Anthropocene. She is contributing to the workshop as a web editor.

Taylor Mateyka is one of the web editors for this workshop. She is from the United States and did her bachelors in Genetics at the University of Wisconsin. She is currently a second year ACRA student here in Bologna. She is specializing in prehistory and osteology. Her research interests are in burial practices and human mobility.

Nicola Pollon is a second year ACRA student doing research on the necropolises and settlements of Iron Age Veneto. Being part of this project gives him the chance to combine two of his greatest interests: archaeology and mountain hiking. Konstantina Vlasakidou Salachora obtained her Bachelor degree in Archaeology and History of Arts in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She is a second year student of the Master program 'Applied Critical Archaeology and Heritage' at the University of Bologna and she is involved in the organization of the Archaeology of the Uplands Workshop as a member of the students' team.  She is currently conducting her thesis on the connection between archaeology, public archaeology and museology, contextualizing the showcases of an upcoming exhibition with material from the archaeological site of Thorikos, Attica,Greece. She is involved in the social media outreach of the workshop. 

Evgeniia Viaznikova

During her previous degree, Evgeniia Viaznikova studied Ancient history and archaeology, researching the ceramic production of a local population of ancient Georgia. Currently, she is a second-year student of ACRA, and her research field is funerary rituals of the eastern Alps. As part of the Social Media team, she is taking care of the Instagram profile.

Anna Barbariol currently lives in Italy. She did her bachelor degree in Cultural Heritage in Ravenna and is now a second year ACRA student. Hester Vegter is a first-year student in the ACRA master program, after previously graduating from the University of Amsterdam with a bachelor's in Ancient Studies. Her academic focus lies on landscape archaeology, specifically prehistoric adaptions (and resilience) to environmental and social changes. She is interested in human-environment interactions, zooarchaeology, subsistence, technology and isotopes. As a member of the research group, she takes care of the bibliography and communications.

Fernanda Velasquez graduated from the University of British Columbia with a major in History and minor in Anthropology, and is currently a first year master’s student in the Applied Critical Archaeology and Heritage program at the University of Bologna. Her area of interest is prehistory, specifically the evolution and movement of hominins, as well as ancient history. She is part of the bibliography team for the Archaeology of the Uplands workshop.

Merlyn Singh is a postgraduate student pursuing her Master's in the course of Applied Critical Archaeology and Heritage at the University of Bologna, Italy. She is an alumna of the University of Delhi, India, with a bachelor's degree in History. Her interests lie in Digital Archaeology, Archaeology of the Near East, and assessing Heritage issues. For the purpose of this workshop, Merlyn takes care of the bibliographical research.

Maria Evangelia Michalopoulou obtained her Bachelor degree in Archaeology and History of Arts in the University of Athens. She is currently conducting her thesis on public archaeology with a focus on the archaeological site and museum of Delphi, as a second year student of Aplied Critical Archaeology and Heritage Master Program of the University of Bologna. She is involved in the preparation of the Archaeology of the Uplands Workshop as a member of the students' team.

Teodora Santandrea is from Italy and previously did her bachelor degree in Cultural Heritage at the University of Bologna. She will now soon graduate in Applied Critical Archaeology and Heritage. Her area of interest is Landscape Archaeology and she is currently working on pre-Roman settlements in the Marche region, Italy. She will be taking part in the Round Table, thus providing bibliography for the website as well.

Jorge Calvelo Alvarez obtained his Bachelor degree in History at the University of Oviedo, Spain. He is now a second year student of the Master program 'Applied Critical Archaeology and Heritage' at the University of Bologna and he is involved in the organization of the Archaeology of the Uplands Workshop as a member of the social media team.  He is currently conducting his thesis on the topic of Archaeological Landscapes and Uplands Archaeology with special attention to the appliance of geophysics and non-destructive approaches.
