Thanks to the activities of the China College Association, as well as the UNESCO Creative Cities Networks, several artistic and cultural events connecting Emilia-Romagna and Asia have been organized in the past years.
In 2018, during the 55th edition of the Bologna Children's Book Fair - and in cooperation with the China College Association - the call "Bologna at a glance" was launched. This call asked Chinese artists of the UNESCO Creative Cities to prepare picture books that represented the city of Bologna. The contest was won by Daisy Zhou, pen name of Zouchao Zhou, a thirty-four-year-old illustrator from Hangzhou. graduated at the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts in 2008, and had already participated in the Children's Book Fair in 2018. Daisy Zhou penned an illustrated book titled "Bologna a Testa in Su" ("Bologna as I look up"), which introduces the city of Bologna to the Chinese tourists that visit it every year. The original illustrations were showcased at the Museum Davia Bargellini - during the 2019 edition of the Children's Book Fair (2-5 May 2019).
In 2018, the China College Association - together with the Confucius Institute and the Centro Studi d'Arte Asia-Orientale (CESAO - Far Eastern Art Study Centre), the Municipality of Castel Maggiore and the Reno Galliera Union - organized the event "La Cina fuori porta - meetings between the Emilia Road and the Silk Road", which was dedicated to the celebrations of the Lunar Year. This event brought together the community of the Emilia-Romagna region with Chinese culture and traditions, through the organization of artistic labs for kids, music performances and films about China.
