WASTE MINERAL FILLER RECYCLING IN NEW PAVEMENT SOLUTIONS (WASTERP) - Updates

SAFERUP! first week at Bologna Stadium

What is SAFERUP! Sustainable, Accessible, Safe, Resilient, and Smart Urban Pavements, and the whole idea is to think beyond the pavement. The project is under the Marie Curie Innovative Training Network (H2020-MSCA-ITN-2017) program and consists of 15 early-stage-researchers! The first SAFERUP! week was at University of Bologna, while the opening day was held at Bologna stadium thanks to the courtesy of SAPABA. During the meetings and the workshops, a lot of ideas were shared which also sparked the ESR collaborations. But lets face it, this is what Marie Curie is all about…sharing bright new ideas and experiencing a unique research environment, for sure!

Let me give you an example. I work on recycling mineral waste fillers as an ESR at SAPABA. I found out that I could expand my research by examining the environmental effects of the fillers through state-of-the-art instruments with the help of my colleagues at Coventry University. At the same time, we could explore different RAP mixtures and mix designs with CELU EKSPERTS. The fun doesn’t ends here…I will also have a share of ideas with Sergio from UNIBO regarding the application of alkaline-activated materials in designing acoustic and pervious pavements’ layers. And of course, every study could use a proper cost and sustainability analysis, couldn’t it Mayara?

This is all happening thanks to the funding received from the European Union, which I am very grateful of. Lets hope and wish for the best for EU. Please visit the link below for further information on SAFERUP!
