Environment

The Environment channel brings together initiatives that are intended to reduce the environmental impact of users' activities and consumption habits, as well as actions promoting the reuse and recycling of resources. This channel also includes all the redevelopment projects of the University’s external areas.

PLASTOP

This project aims to significantly reduce the use of plastic bottles by the Community of the University of Bologna. In addition to creating a considerable amount of waste, the production of plastic bottles generates large quantities of CO2. The aim is therefore to encourage individuals to use their own stainless steel bottles, which can be refilled free of charge at water dispensers distributed around the various University districts, which dispense still and sparkling filtered water directly from the water supply network.

UNIBO GREEN - WASTE MANAGEMENT

The University separates waste that is assimilable to urban waste. This project for the disposal of recyclable waste materials from the University’s main campus has been extended to include decentralized structures in Bologna and the campuses of Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna and Rimini. Branded University of Bologna containers have been produced and widely distributed in order to publicise the importance of waste separation, including off the University premises.

EXTRA

The University of Bologna promotes and implements the development of green spaces by carrying out projects to expand such spaces, planting more trees and implementing urban greening initiatives. Greenery is valued as a necessary element to increase the quality of life in university areas, as well as having ornamental value. Particular attention has been paid to creating a line of urban furniture that turns green spaces into a simple and complementary extension of indoor environments.

ENVIRONMENTAL PASSPORT

As part of a cooperation agreement with Hera S.p.A., it was possible to create the Environmental Passport, an innovative tool designed for university campuses that allows them to monitor certain sustainability issues of the 2030 Agenda and manage the resulting goals.

Il NASTRO VERDE

Il Nastro Verde is a showcase of films taking place over five evenings, during which the university community is invited, through the medium of cinema, to reflect on environmental issues and the challenges that society must face in order to achieve sustainable progress that respects the ecosystem and environment.
The showcase addresses the issues from an integrated, critical and optimistic perspective to inform, raise awareness and awaken conscious and participatory sentiment on the issues of environmental sustainability within the entire community.

GREEN ROOFS

The University of Bologna is experimenting with the installation of green roofs and micro roof gardens on the horizontal roof planes of university buildings. To date, they are present at Ingegneria - Lazzaretto, Scuola di Agraria e Medicina Veterinaria - CAAB and Ex Croce Rossa.
