The University Desk against Gender-Based Violence is a free service aimed at the entire community of the University of Bologna. Established in 2022 and managed by "Casa delle Donne per non subire violenza" in Bologna, the Desk offers a protected listening space and support for various forms of violence that may occur both within and outside the university context, perpetrated by partners, family members, acquaintances, and strangers.
Since November 2023, a similar desk to the one in Bologna has been opened in Forlì: the Gender-Based Violence Desk in Forlì is managed by the Women's Center of the Municipality of Forlì as part of the project 'Respect is the Bread of the Soul: Together it's Easier, No to Violence Against Women', in collaboration with the Department of Interpretation and Translation - DIT of the University of Bologna, Forlì Campus.
The establishment of these desks reflects the University's commitment to combating and preventing male violence against women and all forms of gender-based violence. It contributes to realizing one of the foundational principles of the new Strategic Plan 2022-2027, which is to "promote equity, sustainability, inclusion, and respect for diversity in all areas".
The service is free and provides individual consultations, telephone listening, activation of emergency procedures for the immediate protection of the person experiencing violence, information about university services, figures, and institutional bodies, the opportunity to interact with the network of local services and associations, and basic information on legal aspects
For more information about the service and how to access it, please consult the dedicated page on the University Portal.
