There is a growing awareness that tourism should respect cultural heritage and the local territory. But it is important to understand that sustainability is not only a necessity, but also an opportunity for the growth for the tourism industry as a whole.
To promote this vision and convey it to UniBo students, the Master's programme in Promotion of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Management, now in its third year, includes a multi-disciplinary module that shares the common theme of “Sustainability, cultural heritage and tourism”. Part of each module (20 hours in total) will focus on a specific subject related to the theme of sustainability, with the aim of highlighting how sustainability is a fundamental tool for managing and enhancing cultural heritage with a view to promoting tourism.
Sustainable and responsible tourism refers to tourism that adheres to principles of social and economic justice and that fully respects the environment and local cultures.
