Here are some snapshots of the co-participatory activities carried out by students for Objective#18, part of the training offer of the Educational Laboratories of the Degree Course in Cultural Heritage for the Academic Year 2022-2023.

In order to foster a shared awareness of how a place's cultural and natural legacy contributes to disaster risk reduction capacities and sustainable development, the students participated in inSIGHT - A Participatory Game for Enhancing Disaster Risk Governance, developed by ICCROM.

GOAL#18 was created to raise student awareness of culture as a connecting element between the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development goals.

The Laboratory focuses on the management and risks reduction to cultural heritage, in accordance with the ICCROM and UNESCO strategies and lines of action. GOAL#18 seeks to increase public understanding of how cultural and natural heritage can contribute to the reduction of both natural and anthropogenic risk, thereby strengthening its role as a cross-cutting component in the achievement of sustainable development goals.

An introductory section will be carried out, providing an overview of the concept of risk, framing it in the context of cultural heritage and presenting the method currently used internationally for identifying, analysing, prioritising, and managing natural and anthropogenic risks that can seriously affect the conservation of the heritage itself. The lectures will be interspersed with co-participatory activities to aid understanding of the concepts covered. Students will be divided into work groups and given an activity to complete. At the end of the Laboratory, students will participate in an activity based on the experience of inSIGHT - a participatory game for enhancing disaster risk governance with the goal of sharing and putting the experiences gained in groups into practise.

The Laboratory is part of SIRIUS project Action No. 2 - Strategies for the Management of Cultural Heritage at risk (training and updating of skills on the topic of cultural heritage at risk and their mitigation and prevention).
