Cultural heritage and culture to promote the resilience of communities to climate change

Objective 13: fight against climate change introduces climate change as a central theme in the strategies and programs of governments, businesses and civil society. It promotes the response to the problems generated by climate change such as natural disasters, encouraging education and awareness of the population.

Cultural heritage can be a vector of technological knowledge, encouraging the use of techniques and knowledge to reduce the effects deriving from natural disasters.

In addition, the Objective aims to include measures for assessing, adapting and mitigating environmental protection in heritage management policies, plans and projects. This has the aim of preventing and mitigating the damage to cultural heritage deriving from climate change, encouraging the preparation and response to emerging situations.
