The community is a very important actor in the protection of Cultural Heritage: it benefits from the cultural assets, as a vector of identity and social values, but, if properly educated, sensitized and involved, citizens can also become a fundamental ally of Local Authorities and Bodies for monitoring of the Cultural Heritage.
The citizens of Ravenna have always enthusiastically welcomed proposals and initiatives on the city's cultural heritage, showing great attention also to the enhancement and revitalization of its historical centre, as well as to the protection and conservation of ancient remains and artistic expressions.
In November 2019, the Department of Cultural Heritage, in collaboration with RC Mistral, Volunteers of Civil Protection Association, has organized the conference "Cultural and Environmental Heritage at risk. Skills, training and territorial strategies". The free-access event involved experts and Officials from local Bodies and Institutions, professors and researchers from the University in a mutual exchange on needs and solutions on the topic of cultural and natural heritage in risk situations. The fruitful discussion and the sharing perspectives and needs laid the basis for the departmental research line of which SIRIUS project is part.
Through a series of initiatives and events, this action aims to provide citizens with information about the exposition/vulnerability of local Cultural Heritage to risk factors and foster their involvement in monitoring and prevention activities. The initiatives will be designed for addressing different target groups, with the purpose to contribute a community more aware and careful to the needs of Cultural and Natural Heritage.
Public engagement activities are designed and realized by SIRIUS’s Team, and distributed to the Ravenna’s community with the technical and logistic support of the Municipality of Ravenna.
