TALKING ABOUT RISKS

Although the specific research topic was opened in 2021, the Department of Cultural Heritage has paid attention to the risk vulnerability and exposition of cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, for many years

Researchers and Laboratories of the Department actively collaborate on projects and initiatives focused on preservation and protection of cultural heritage, with particular attention to the city of Ravenna.

Here you will find a review of contents that, in recent years, have been produced by the Department of Cultural Heritage on this topic for dissemination purposes.

European Night of Researchers 2021

On the front line. Acting on cultural heritage at risk

Natural disasters and anthropogenic actions can pose a serious threat to cultural heritage and its conservation. The number of risks associated with the occurrence of extreme climatic events is constantly increasing, posing new challenges to professionals in the sector and requiring the adoption of new management strategies. For this reason, cultural heritage is part of European planning in the lines of action related to climate change. In this video, made on the occasion of the European Researchers' Night 2020, we will retrace together the main historical events which, although tragic, have led to increasing awareness of the threats that can damage and destroy our material culture, encouraging experts and operators in the sector to development of intervention strategies. The content is realized for Italian audience.

Let's wear boots ... and save the cultural heritage at risk!

Planet Earth, November 27, 2020. During the night, heavy rains flooded our city. In the morning, citizens and tourists are astonished: the marvelous and precious mosaics of a well-known archaeological area in the heart of the historic center seem ... disappeared underwater! A team of uniformed operators attracts our attention… What happened? What can we do? The mission begins and let's save the endangered cultural heritage! For the European Researchers' Night 2020 we have created a live game for children aged 6 to 10. By alternating video content with interactive quizzes, an emergency situation was simulated, in which the young researchers collaborated with specialized operators to rescue a flooded archaeological area. The content is realized for Italian audience.
