Questionnaire on perceptions surrounding the sustainable use of energy

The questionnaire

In 2013 all students and teaching and professional staff were invited to participate in an online questionnaire on the perception of areas from an energy standpoint and on their behaviour in terms of the rational use of energy.

The content of the questionnaire varied depending on the respondent's function within the University:

  • staff were asked about how they use heating/cooling systems, lighting systems and individual and shared electronic equipment (PCs, printers, faxes).
  • students were asked about their perception of how the premises are managed in terms of heating/cooling and lighting.

The goals

  • to increase knowledge of staff's behaviour in terms of rational use of energy and attention to reducing consumption
  • to increase knowledge of the perception of staff and students as regards the climatic adequacy of university areas
  • to draw users’ attention to the importance of their behaviour in terms of rational use of energy and attention to energy containment.
  • to identify new awareness strategies for university users

1305 employees and 448 students responded to the questionnaire.
