GOTOUNIBO | The report on the mobility of the university community

The results of the new survey show that the university community is increasingly embracing sustainable forms of mobility.

For UniBo, the GOTOUNIBO 2017 project represents an important step in the approach to managing mobility data. Created from the fusion between management and research needs, the analysis of behavioural models and the study of new applications in mobility services and infrastructures, this survey defines a new methodology in the evolution of sustainable mobility and transport.

The results have highlighted the behaviours and perceptions underlying the mobility choices of the university community, which impact on the life of students and university staff. These journeys generally play a significant role in the difficult balance between private life and study/work times, making them fundamental considerations for a complex organisation such as the University of Bologna.

The GOTOUNIBO survey project and report were created with the scientific and methodological contribution of a research team coordinated by Prof. Luca Pietrantoni, supported by the collaboration of PhD student Marco De Angelis and the coordination of the University Mobility Manager, Roberto Battistini.

Learning about attitudes relating to choice of transport, the intention to adopt new forms of shared mobility as well as investigating the role of habits in home-university travel are aspects that are useful and necessary to fully understand the dynamics underlying the decision to choose a particular mode of transport, any limits and in particular, potential ways of stimulating a more sustainable choice that favours the wellbeing of the community.
