The University of Bologna has contributed as a stakeholder to the Life+ “BLUE AP” project for the development of a Climate Change Adaptation Plan for the City of Bologna.
The project involves the testing, at local level, of some concrete measures to make the city more resilient, less vulnerable and more able to react in the event of floods, droughts and other consequences of climate change.
The planning and experimental work done with BLUE AP in the city of Bologna will make it possible to create guidelines for defining similar Adaptation Plans that can be adopted by all medium-sized Italian cities.
The aim behind BLUE AP is to consolidate a management and planning model that can also be adopted as an example by other Italian municipal authorities, involving both the public and private sectors, increasing the awareness of key stakeholders, citizens and politicians about the risks and vulnerabilities related to climate change.
The University of Bologna is strongly committed to interventions aimed at increasing green and permeabilised areas, with particular attention to water saving in irrigation and to the design and implementation of integrated measures of environmental sustainability in major works under construction.
