Butrint Project

The Albanian and Italian archaeological research project in Butrint, developed in 2015, has been part of the wider research agreement on Ancient Caonia born in 2000 between the Archaeological Institute of Tirana and the University of Bologna. Since 2017, the Butrint Project is an Archaeological Mission supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic. The project is engaged in the study, topographic documentation with Laser Scanner and Drone, monitoring and mapping of the state of conservation of the main monuments of the Archaeological Park of Butrint, starting from the wall circuit. The archaeological excavation is currently underway in the Acropolis area and is set up as a school camp for Albanian and Italian archeology students.
