Visit of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella in Tirana, 08/09/2022

The co-director of our archaeological mission, Enrico Giorgi, had the honour to be invited to the meeting between the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella and the representatives of the Italian community in Albania held in Tirana on 08/09/2022. During his meeting with the President of the Albanian Republic Bajram Begaj, President Mattarella shared the importance of the harmony, friendship and collaboration between Albania and Italy. He also recalled the relevance of cultural exchanges between Albania and Italy, as in the collaboration between universities and in the valorisation and study of Unesco sites. President Mattarella said, "Italy, also in the appreciation that Unesco sites require, is pleased to collaborate with regard to Unesco sites in Albania. There are archaeological missions that Italy has very much at heart in the city of Butrint, in the historic centers of Berat and Gjirokastra, and this is another element of our collaboration and the collaborative cultural harmony that exists between Albania and Italy."
