UniBoAT’s catamaran is wrapped, tested, and ready to exhibit

UniBoAT made its return to Marina di Ravenna this June for our sustainable-energy catamaran’s second round of tests on water, once again kindly hosted by Circolo Velico Ravennate, one of Italy’s most prestigious sailing clubs.

The heat was on this time – both literally and metaphorically. The UniBoAT team came together from both Bologna and Forlì to boost our boat’s performance and continue testing for the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge races: namely speed, endurance and slalom.

While the team in Marina di Ravenna continued refining the boat’s design and carrying out technical checks, other members of the team remained in Bologna. After working hard for months on the cockpit design, it was finally time to mount it, as well as the stickers from our sponsors. The 2026 edition wrap could be our best yet…

As we draw nearer to race week, deadlines for the Communication Challenge are also approaching. We are so excited to be working on our video for the YouTube challenge, shooting both the boat’s construction and on-water testing process in Marina di Ravenna. All our hard work preparing for this has made this filming process so rewarding, and we cannot wait to showcase our video as well as our cockpit and propulsion design at our Unveiling on 23rd June. All our sponsors and collaborators have been invited to Imola’s iconic racing venue, Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, for an evening devised to celebrate the projects of both the University of Bologna Argonauts and Motorsports teams.

All in all, we return to Bologna with our catamaran wrapped and tested, ready to exhibit it to the public for the first time, and even readier for the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge.
