Heraklion Archaeological Museum
23 September 2023
Concept
The Workshop “New Prospects on the Aegean Undeciphered Scripts” is focused on the most recent research on the 4000-year-old undeciphered scripts from Crete: the Cretan Hieroglyphic script and Linear A.
The Heraklion Archaeological Museum in collaboration with the ERC project “INSCRIBE Invention of Scripts and their Beginnings” at the University of Bologna presents recent studies by international researchers, which help to shed light on the oldest writing systems of Minoan Crete by focusing on the epigraphic, linguistic and contextual aspects of written language.
The Event is aimed at a wide audience, who will be able to see the past and the future of the research on Minoan writing in its local setting.
The Event is sponsored by the Heraklion Archaeological Museum and the ERC Project INSCRIBE Invention of Scripts and their Beginnings, based in Bologna, which has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program (Grant Agreement No. 771127).
