What is DigiEduHack? 

Welcome to our community of digital education and innovation enthusiasts! 

The Digital Education Hackathon (DigiEduHack) is a grassroots movement that aims to foster innovation, collaboration and creativity and to drive positive change in digital education. It provides solutions to existing and future challenges in digital education. 

Whether you're a coding genius or have no tech skills, an experienced educator or a real newbie: if you've got a passion for digital education, we want YOU! We’re looking for creative minds from Europe and every corner of the globe to help us tackle today’s challenges in digital education. 

DigiEduHack is an initiative of theDigital Education Action Plan 2021-2027of the European Commission.

Description 

BalancED is a dynamic hackathon designed to address the educational needs of university students who balance their academic responsibilities with work and other commitments. Participants will work in teams to create innovative tools and technologies that bridge the gap between traditional education and the realities of modern student life. With expert mentors, collaborative spaces, and a vibrant environment, BalancED  offers a unique opportunity to develop solutions that have a real-world impact on the future of education. Join us to innovate, connect, and transform the way we approach learning for multitasking students.  

The address for this onsite hackathon is: Via Ugo Foscolo 7, 40123 Bologna. All sessions are in person and held in English. 

 

Goals  

The primary goal of BalancED is to create practical, scalable solutions that improve the learning experiences of university students balancing studies with jobs. By the end of the event, we aim to:  

  • Develop technologies that enhance flexibility in learning.  
  • Create tools that support time management and mental well-being for students.  
  • Build partnerships between education professionals, tech developers, and students.  
  • Raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by multitasking students.  

 

Expectations and requirements  

Participants are expected to form teams and work intensively to design, prototype, and pitch solutions that address the challenges of digital education for multitasking students.  

  • Teams should consist of 3-5 people, with diverse backgrounds and skill sets encouraged.  

  • Participants should bring their own laptops and any other necessary equipment.  Participants must also provide their own lunch.

  • Experience in coding or education is a plus, but not required. Creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving are key.  

  • A spirit of innovation and the ability to work under pressure are essential, as well as the desire to contribute meaningful solutions to educational challenges.  

Winners will be chosen based on creativity, feasibility, and the potential impact of their solutions.  

 

Available Support  

Throughout the event, participants will have access to a range of support, including:  

  • Mentorship: Experienced professionals in tech and education will be available to offer guidance, answer questions, and provide feedback.  

  • Workshops: Specialized workshops will run throughout the hackathon to help teams sharpen their skills in coding, design, and project management.  

  • Technical Resources: Participants will have access to tools, platforms, and resources that will aid in the development of their projects. 

  • Networking Opportunities: The event will offer opportunities to connect with fellow participants, sponsors, and experts from the education and technology sectors.
