The study day focuses on museum translation and accessibility, with a special focus on the audio description of artworks and archaeological artefacts. Through the experience of some of the leading national and international experts in the field, the aim is to offer theoretical reflections and a practical workshop on museum audio description as an instance of intersemiotic translation and a tool for accessibility and inclusion aimed primarily at blind and visually impaired visitors. The event will provide an opportunity to discuss some of the fundamental aspects of museum audio description, both from the point of view of academic research and professional practice, including objective, creative and subjective approaches, multimodality and the collaboration with museums and blind or partially sighted citizens through focus groups.
