The Universidad de La Frontera (UFRO) is located in Temuco, the capital of Araucania (Chile), a region hosting a large community of Italian origin in the city of Capitan Pastene. UFRO is considered one of the best public universities in the country for its remarkable indicators of quality and excellence. Founded in 1981 from the merger of the Temuco offices of the University of Chile and the State Technical University, it has 45 degree courses, 28 master's degree courses, 10 doctoral programs, 35 specialization programs in various areas of medicine. It has over 8500 students enrolled in the degree courses and over 800 students enrolled in the master's courses distributed in its 6 faculties. UFRO is particularly open to international collaborations and thanks to the DISTAL-UFRO agreement, exchanges of researchers and doctoral students are active. The PASS Coordinator, Professor Rombolà, is co-tutor of a PhD student.
