Networking

The EMRG is connected to several International and National networks.

Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft

Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization, with more than 22,000 staff members, more than 66 research institutes, an annual research budget of 1.9 billion euro and 10 Offices & Project Centers in Asia Pacific.

The EMRG is linked to the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft through a Collaboration Agreement with the University of Bologna, for activities in collaboration with the Institute Fraunhofer UMSICHT, Sulzbach-Rosenberg Branch.

The EMRG is participating in two EU H2020 Projects with the Fraunhofer UMSICHT Institute:

  • TO-SYN-FUEL: Demonstration of Waste Biomass to Synthetic Fuels and Green Hydrogen
  • GreenFlexJET: Sustainable Jet Fuel from Flexible Waste Biomass

Climate-KIC

Climate-KIC is Europe’s largest public-private innovation partnership, working together to address the challenge of climate change.

The EMRG participated in four Climate-KIC Projects:

  • LOOP-PORTS: Circular Economy Network of Ports
  • TAPYRO: Thermochemical apparatus for weed control fuelled with renewable biomass.
  • BioHorizons: Horizon scanning of the Bio-Based industry in Europe.
  • MuBiGen: Application of the IFBB-technology (Integrated generation of solid Fuel and Biogas from Biomass): hydrothermal conditioning and mechanical dehydration of the biomass.

ICHAR

The Italian Biochar Association ICHAR is a non-profit organization founded in 2009 to promote, in synergy between the world of research and the private sector, solutions, technologies, advanced studies, demonstration activities and educational projects on the application of biochar in agriculture as an innovative strategy to increase global soil fertility and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.

Emilia-Romagna Region High Technology Network

The Regional Operational Programme of the European Regional Development Fund for the period 2007-2013, approved by decision C (2007) 3875 of 7 August 2007 of the European Commission, made available 347 million Euro for the purpose of bringing the Emilia-Romagna Region into line with the Lisbon and Göteborg objectives of growing investment in R&D, creating the knowledge society and setting widespread bases for sustainable development. The Emilia-Romagna Region High Technology Network was constituted in 2007 with more than 80 research Institutions.

Further programs were approved for the 2014-2020 and 2021-2027 periods.

The EMRG participates in the Emilia-Romagna Region High Technology Network through the Interdepartmental Center for Industrial Research – Renewable Sources, Environment, Sea and Energy (CIRI FRAME) which is part of the Ravenna Technopole, a network of 7 industrial research laboratories supporting research, technology transfer and business innovation.

Ravenna Technopole

Ravenna Technopole, with its 2 locations at the University Campus of Ravenna and the Torricelli Science and Technology Park in Faenza, grants access to 7 industrial research laboratories with a high level of competence and excellent instruments. Moreover, the technopole venue provides meeting rooms and multi-purpose areas for animation, popularization, and matching of supply and demand in industrial and basic research activities. Technopole especially focuses on Energy, Environment, Nautical Science, Innovative and Composite Materials and Restoration.
