2025

During the 2025 campaign, the archeological site of Sopoti (Borsh) was systematically surveyed thanks to the agreement with the Drejtorisë Rajonale Të Trashëgimisë Kulturore of Vlore. The aim was to produce a comprehensive documentation of the site, supporting both the study of its structures and the preparation of future publications.

To achieve this, the entire area and the slopes of the hill were divided into 14 zones where each visible structure, concentration of materials, or worked bedrock was recorded as a topographic unit (UT) and documented through photographs, field measurements, GPS data, and dedicated forms. The acropolis was a major focused, along with the north and west slopes, the Hellenistic and medieval fortification walls, and the necropolis area.

Special attention was given to photogrammetric and laser scanning documentation of the mosque to generate detailed plans, sections, and elevations. Overall, the campaign produced a thorough and multi-layered record of the site’s structures, material remains, and landscape features, providing essential data for ongoing analysis and publication.

Fieldwork activities were also made possible thanks to the support and participation to the PRIN 2022 FortNet Project.
