Electrical Assets Management M (Prof. Andrea Cavallini)

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the physical principles governing the behavior, performance, and reliability of electrical insulation systems used in power apparatus, cables, and high-voltage equipment. Particular emphasis is placed on the electrical, thermal, and aging phenomena affecting dielectric materials, together with the mechanisms leading to insulation degradation and failure.

Predictive Maintenance for Electrical Infrastructures M (Prof. Andrea Cavallini)

This course provides an advanced overview of diagnostic techniques, insulation systems, and reliability issues associated with power equipment used in electrical energy generation, transmission, and conversion. Particular emphasis is placed on the detection of insulation defects, condition assessment methodologies, and the mechanisms responsible for insulation degradation and failure.

Reliability and Statistics of Electrical Systems (Prof. Paolo Seri)

This course covers the fundamentals of probability, statistics, regression analysis, and reliability engineering, providing the theoretical and practical tools needed for uncertainty quantification, data analysis, and reliability assessment of engineering systems.

Design and Diagnostics of Electrical Insulation Systems M (Prof. Davide Fabiani)

 The course aims to provide in-depth knowledge on the use of the main solid, liquid and gaseous electrical insulators in the components of medium and high voltage electrical power systems. At the end of the course the student is able to design and qualify the electrical insulating systems in DC and AC, e.g. high voltage cables, isolators, rotating machines, transformers and GIS. He is also able to apply the main diagnostic techniques to evaluate the aging state of the above-mentioned insulating systems.

Innovative Technologies for Production and Storage of Electric Energy (Prof. Simone V. Suraci)

The course aims at understanding the operation and control of power plants from renewable sources, the dynamic models of the various plants, the types of control systems, and the contribution to the supply of ancillary services. At the end of the course, the student has the ability to choose the wiring diagrams for powering the auxiliaries and protections. He has the knowledge of the criteria for the connection of the plant to the external network, both in the case of a high voltage transmission grid and in the case of a medium and low voltage distribution system.

Innovative Electrical Technologies M (Prof. Davide Fabiani)

The course aims to deepen the knowledge of basic and innovative technologies in the field of electricity production, storage and transport, with particular emphasis on photovoltaics, fuel cells, batteries and superconductors. At the end of the course the student, besides the knowledge of the aforementioned technologies, is able to design simple photovoltaic systems, energy storage and high-temperature superconducting cables.
