Transversal Skills organized by the University

- Language Proficiency. Regarding language skills acquisition, doctoral students can access the services offered by the University Language Centre: http://www.cla.unibo.it/.
- Enhancing and Communicating Research (knowledge dissemination and technology transfer to create societal impact; university research addressing global challenges), Methods, Techniques, and Tools (workshops on information literacy; open science, principles and practices of research data management; data visualization for dissemination), Shaping Your Future (resources and skills for professional development; teamwork in research, emphasizing communication, organizational, and personal skills). For these transversal skills, the University organizes a specific training plan for doctoral students: https://eventi.unibo.it/[…]/programmi.

Transversal Skills organized externally

- Open Science. To raise awareness about open science, doctoral candidates are encouraged to attend events on open science organized by external entities, such as those by ICDI (Italian Computing and Data Infrastructure): https://www.icdi.it/it/.
- Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications. To provide an overview of the ethical, legal, and social implications within research organizations and infrastructures, doctoral students are invited to attend courses organized by RItrainPlus, a project offering new training opportunities through theoretical lessons and practical activities: https://ritrainplus.eu/.

Seminars organized externally

- Research Reproducibility. To raise awareness of the importance of a) Making raw data and research code available so that others can achieve the same results as presented in the research conclusions; b) The concept of replicability, which enables the reproduction of a scientific methodology to reach similar conclusions; doctoral students are encouraged to attend seminars organized by the Italian Reproducibility Network: https://www.itrn.org/.

Laboratory activities organized externally

- Relational Soft Skills. To enhance communication skills, doctoral students are encouraged to participate in workshops organized by external entities aimed at developing public speaking abilities during dissemination events. An example is the workshops by CNIT/WiLab, structured as intensive five-day, in-person experiences focused on soft skills, with professional trainers: https://wilab.cnit.it/.
