This program offers students a path for personal and professional growth aimed at solving an innovative challenge proposed by a company.
The University of Bologna’s Open Innovation Program offers the opportunity to participate in three international programs on a part-time basis, conducted entirely in English.
The three programs, starting in September/October 2026, are open to students enrolled in master’s degree programs and those in the final years of the single-cycle degree program at our University, and include financial grants to partially cover the costs of international mobility.
- CBI: a 5-month program aimed at solving a business challenge, featuring inspirational sessions and interaction with technological and digital ideas from CERN, as well as the application of a human-centered approach.
- SUGAR: a 9-month program with a strong international focus, involving the formation of a hybrid team of students (UniBo + 1 foreign university), international mobility, and numerous opportunities to engage with a network of 28 universities worldwide.
- PDP: a 9-month program organized by Aalto Design Factory at Aalto University in Helsinki, aimed at fostering innovative solutions that draw on an understanding of the user experience, user needs, and the context in which they operate. The program consists of a series of training modules designed to help participants acquire complementary and supplementary skills.
The call for applications is open to students at the University of Bologna who, at the time of application, will be:
- enrolled in the third year of a Bachelor’s degree program for the 2025/26 academic year and intend to enroll in a Master’s degree program for the 2026/27 academic year
- enrolled in a Master’s degree program
- enrolled in the fourth or fifth year of a single-cycle Master’s degree program lasting 5 years
- students enrolled in the fifth or sixth year of a single-cycle Master’s degree program lasting six years
Students in their final year of a Bachelor’s degree program, including those from other universities, are eligible to participate, provided they are currently enrolled and intend to enroll in the first year of a UNIBO Master’s degree program, subject to the condition that they obtain their Bachelor’s degree by the first mobility period scheduled in the program.
