We briefly sketch selected topics from Adams and Hedberg's book Function Spaces and Potential Theory; see

The notions of kernel, set capacity, equilibrium measure and potential are sketched; with some examples and mention of the main results. A lot more can be said for kernels satisfying some version of the maximum principle. The idea is providing listeners with some basic vocabulary.
