WP2

  • Analysis and investigation of the relationship between the cow microbiome and the different physical and environmental variables

  • Providing of models that integrate the different microbial, physical and environmental variables to identify and assess their impact on production and sustainability

The objective of WP2 is to develop a model, also in the form of a web application dashboard, to support dairy supply chain stakeholders in identifying and assessing the impact of specific drivers (e.g., microbiomes, interactions between animal genotype and rumen microbiome, production variables, processing variables, and management variables, including water and by-product management) producing a measurable impact on improving the environmental sustainability of the dairy cow and milk supply chain, taking into account selected scenarios and case studies.

Specific studies will regard the relationship between rumen microbiome and enteric methane emission, environmental microbiome and dairy product features, sewage microbiome and raw milk microbiome.
