A workshop to identify the available scenarios and case studies that will be analyzed, and to share with supply chain stakeholders the proposed activities for achieving the project’s objectives.

Laboratories have been set up to support the project’s activities, specifically focusing on metagenomic and genomic analyses of dairy cows, milk, and dairy products. This provides a fully operational reference center for all sequencing applications for stakeholders in the supply chain.

An integrated data storage and management system has been implemented and made operational to manage the data generated by the Stalla Modello project. The infrastructure supports genomic, metagenomic, and metataxonomic sequencing activities, ensuring adequate storage capacity, reliability, security, and operational continuity.

A computing infrastructure dedicated to the data analysis and bioinformatics activities outlined in the Stalla Modello project has been implemented and made operational. The cluster, equipped with an appropriate operating system and dedicated software, was designed to provide the computational resources necessary for processing the data generated by genomic sequencing platforms and for running the related bioinformatics pipelines. The infrastructure enables the efficient management of workflows related to the analysis of biological samples, milk, and environmental matrices using whole-genome sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, and 16S metataxonomic analysis.

A predictive model was developed using longitudinal data collected at the DIMEVET experimental dairy barn between June 2024 and June 2025. The dataset includes 25 variables measured daily: enteric methane emissions, climatic parameters (temperature and humidity), milk production and composition, physical variables such as animal weight and parity, as well as feed type and its ingredients.

The selected predictive model and the first prototype of the web application were presented at the 79th SISVET Conference, held in Bologna from June 10 to 13, 2026, and at the 2nd EAAP Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Animal Science, held in Ghent, Belgium, on June 29 and 30, 2026.
