Date: 08 JUNE 2025 from 17:00 to 19:00
On the occasion of World Ocean Day, on Saturday, 8 June 2025, the event “Discovering the Adriatic: Nature and Sustainability” was held at the Conference Hall of MAR – Ravenna City Art Museum. The event was organized by the Soroptimist Club Ravenna in collaboration with the BiGeA Department of the University of Bologna and the MAR Museum.
The meeting, moderated by Prof. Elena Fabbri (University of Bologna and President of Soroptimist Club Ravenna), offered the audience a scientific and informative journey through images and stories from experts, with a particular focus on the coastal ecosystem of the Adriatic Sea.
Among the highlights, the LIFE NatuReef project was presented by Prof. Massimo Ponti (project coordinator), who explained how the creation of oyster-based artificial reefs can contribute to coastal protection and marine biodiversity conservation at the Bevano River mouth.
The event also featured contributions from researchers and science communicators involved in marine environment exploration and monitoring, such as Dr. Jacopo Alessandri (University of Bologna), diving instructor Mauro Pazzi, and marine biologist Dr. Simone Modugno.
The evening concluded with an interactive quiz on the fragility of the Adriatic coast and environmental awareness.
