Dr. Elena Manfredini – Master’s Thesis

Ecological Characterization of the Bevano Seabed
As part of the LIFE NatuReef project, Elena Manfredini conducted an in-depth study of the macrobenthic communities inhabiting the sandy seabed near the mouth of the Bevano Stream. This research provides the ecological baseline for assessing the effects of a future nature-based reef made of oysters and sabellariids. The results support coastal management strategies grounded in nature-based solutions, making a significant contribution to biodiversity conservation.

Dr. Federica Chippari – Bachelor’s Thesis

Study on Benthic Bivalves in the Bevano Area
As part of the LIFE NatuReef project, Federica Chippari analyzed the communities of benthic bivalve mollusks inhabiting the sandy coastal seabed near the mouth of the Bevano Stream. Her research established an essential baseline for the future implementation of biogenic reefs. The findings provide a solid scientific foundation for habitat monitoring and integrated coastal management through nature-based solutions.

Clelia Fumagalli

Dr. Clelia Fumagalli – Master’s Thesis

Variability of macrobenthic communities in the Bevano area
Within the framework of the LIFE NatuReef project, Clelia Fumagalli analyzed the structure and variability of macrobenthic communities in the sandy coastal seabed north of the Bevano River mouth. The study identified the main environmental factors influencing species distribution, providing a baseline ecological reference to assess the effects of the restoration interventions planned within the project.

Dr Caterina Ingrassia – Master's Thesis

Spatial Analysis of Macrobenthic Communities on Sandy Seabeds

This thesis focuses on the spatial analysis of the most frequent and abundant macrobenthic species identified, including Lentidium mediterraneum, Magelona sp., Phoronis muelleri, Chamelea gallina, and Ampelisca brevicornis. The study establishes a comprehensive baseline dataset (pre-intervention) that will support the monitoring and evaluation of the LIFE NatuReef project, providing a scientific reference for assessing progress towards the project's objectives.
