The main objective of this project is to provide dairy chain stakeholders with system-based strategies and models to support decision-making processes aimed at improving the sustainability of dairy cow production and the safety of milk and dairy products, in order to reduce waste during production, processing, and distribution.
The research activities will consider both current and future scenarios, taking into account climate changes and other variables, including water resource reduction and spread of biological hazards. The decision-making models to be developed will be based on results obtained through a systems approach, which involves the integrated use of metagenomic and genomic data, big data, and machine learning.
