Outreach Activities

Outreach activities aimed at increasing the significance of the results for present-day coastal communities in the Mediterranean

During the latest campaign in Torre dell'Alto, Professor Francesco Iacono presented the first results of Unibo's research to the local community at the Prehistoric Museum of Nardò.

The presentation provided a general overview of the archaeological evidence from  Torre dell'Alto and emphasized the future research directions on the site in collaboration with the Prehistoric Museum of Nardò and the Regional Natural Park of Porto Selvaggio and Palude del Capitano.

The research results are part of the project for reconstructing the layered landscapes of this area of Salento, developed in synergy between the University of Bologna and the Prehistoric Museum of Nardò. The collaboration involves the sharing of knowledge, strategies, and tools, constituting a virtuous example of attention to the sustainability of heritage and collaboration between university institutions and local authorities.

The event took place in the presence of Giulia Puglia, councillor for Environment, Culture, Public Education and Training, Museums, Libraries, Municipal Theater, and the Park Office of the Municipality of Nardò.
