Mediterranean Coastal Lifestyle and Mobility - Final Conference

We are pleased to announce the closing conference of the PRIN project “Mediterranean Coastal Lifestyle and Mobility”, to be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the University of Bologna.

From East to West, from prehistory to the present day, coastal lifestyles represent a quintessential aspect of the human experience in/of the Mediterranean. The aim of this conference is to analyse these coastal lifestyles in detail as well as their relationship to mobility, a further element that has defined and continues to influence profoundly the communities bordering Mare Nostrum. This relationship will be investigated by integrating archaeological and bio-archaeological evidence, and above all by studying coastal settlements in their broader territorial context and in the longue-durée. The conference will include case studies coming from diQerent areas of the Mediterranean.

The event will be a unique opportunity to present the results of the research, share discoveries and insights on Mediterranean coastal contexts, and engage in discussions with experts and colleagues in the field.

The program includes presentations of key findings, discussion sessions, and opportunities for scientific exchange. The conference is open to researchers, students, and anyone interested in the study of coastal life and dynamics in the Mediterranean.

Participation is free but you are kindly invited to register before the 15/12/2025

We look forward to welcoming you in Bologna!
