Associate Professor at University of Bologna

My research interests range from prehistory and archeology of the Mediterranean (with particular attention to the Bronze Age), to social theory (in particular Marxist archeology) to the use of applications based on graph-theory, to cultural heritage studies (with specific attention to the so-called "difficult heritage"), and, finally, the history of the archaeological thought.

My academic interests center around examining the interconnections among southern Italy, the Aegean, and the Eastern Mediterranean during the Late Bronze Age. Since the beginning of my doctoral studies, I have directed my research toward understanding the manufacturing and use of storage vessels.  I have actively participated in various international archaeological projects spanning Italy, Crete, and Cyprus.

My research interests concern the study of the landscape in southern Italy from prehistory to classical antiquity. I have actively participated in several excavation and research projects in Central Italy.  Within this specific research, I am in charge of topography, a project I have pursued since my specialisation thesis.

My research interests include the Aegean in the Late Bronze Age, ports and interactions across the Mediterranean and I have been involved in various international archaeological projects and conferences.

I am currently working a thesis with the title “The Aegean influence on the social organization of Italian communities in the Late Bronze Age”.  I co-edited the conference “Interactions, Trade and Mobility in Archaelogy”, published by BAR in 2023.

My research interests, focusing on Bronze Age coastal and island communities, encompass connectivity studies, Mediterranean archaeology and the dynamics of interaction and mobility.  Since my Master's degree, I have had the opportunity to develop my practical skills both in Italy and abroad, through active participation in fieldwork at various archaeological excavations, as well as through employment opportunities at cultural heritage institutions and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.

My specialization is in the field of archaeobotany, with a focus on plant macro-remains. My research interests primarily concern the Mediterranean region, where I have gained work experience in southern Italy and the Near East. Through my studies, I aim to advance our understanding of agricultural and environmental resources and their transition over time, reconstructing vital archaeological information at individual sites but also examining how these resources are influenced by climatic and cultural factors.
