Development of innovative methodologies, materials and solutions for the study, restoration and conservation of paintings

This line of research is fully part of the Third Mission, that is, among the set of activities of scientific, technological and cultural transfer and productive transformation of knowledge to promote the economic and social growth of the territory, so that knowledge becomes instrumental for obtaining economic, social and cultural benefits.

The close contact with stakeholders active in the various sectors of art, from study, conservation and restoration to the enhancement, allows the Diagnostica & Arte research group to identify in a privileged way the technological areas within which to develop integrated technology transfer projects of methodologies, materials and more generally of innovative solutions, making researchers capable of directing their studies on issues whose results will be immediately applicable.

Due to its intrinsic characteristics, this line of research  integrates specific professional profiles and cutting-edge technologies to provide, with interdisciplinary, solutions to the problems and policies of the sector.

The line presents a systemic approach inherent to the production chain, structured in the sequence Knowledge-Protection / Conservation-Enhancement of Heritage, aimed at contributing to the production systems for culture and to the competitiveness and attractiveness of the Sistema Paese.
