Period: June 9-13, 2025

Location: Department of Classical Philology and Italian Studies, University of Bologna

Deadline: April 23, 2025

Application period: April 29, 2025 – May 15, 2025

Open to: Final-year Bachelor's students in Italian Studies, Master's students in Italian Studies, Recent graduates (Master’s degree) in Italian Studies, PhD students in the Humanities.

About the ILIO Summer School

The main objective of the ILIO Summer School is to provide final-year undergraduate, Master's, and PhD students in the Humanities—particularly in Italian Studies—with the necessary skills to conduct research in Italian literature from an international perspective and to work in the field of teaching Italian language and literature abroad or to foreign students enrolled in international programs in Italy.

In particular, the Summer School will address key topics such as:

  • The reception of contemporary Italian literature abroad
  • The comparison between the internal and external canon of Italian literature
  • Different approaches to teaching Italian literature in diverse linguistic and cultural contexts
  • The translation of modern and contemporary literary texts
  • The dynamics of the publishing system that promotes Italian literature internationally

Fees

The cost of the lectures and additional activities is €17.04.

The fee includes:

  • Free Wi-Fi access on campus
  • Access to university facilities and libraries
  • Organized visits

Accommodation, meals, and transportation are not included.

Due to the tourist nature of Bologna, we will promptly inform you of your acceptance to the program so that you can make the necessary travel arrangements in advance. Depending on the number of participants, we will do our best to provide a list of affiliated accommodations.
