Development of very sensitive and portable point-of-need testing devices, which are fast and cheap, to identify and quantify pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and parasites responsible for severe diseases. The detection of these pathogens is based on the ElectroChemiLuminescence (ECL) technique and on advanced signal amplification strategies based on bio- and nano-technologies which increase the sensitivity, portability, and versatility of the point-of-need testing devices.
