Sustainable Foods for Thoughts

This project aims to evaluate the effectiveness of digital technologies (e.g., virtual reality, augmented reality, mobile apps, etc.) in encouraging healthy and sustainable food choices in the general population and to identify the most effective psychological mechanisms in promoting such behaviors, in order to integrate them into the development of a new digital instrument that can promote healthier and more sustainable eating habits.

PROJECT IMPACT

The results of the systematic review highlighted that various digital technologies, particularly virtual reality and mobile apps, can motivate behavioral changes in the context of food choices. These tools operate through psychological and behavioral mechanisms such as awareness, self-efficacy, and self-monitoring, demonstrating the potential of technology to promote healthier and more sustainable eating habits.

The expected impact of the project concerns improving users’ health, sustainability, and psychological well-being through the development of a mobile app that incorporates the aforementioned mechanisms to encourage the adoption of more conscious eating habits. Furthermore, the project aims to enhance the accessibility and effectiveness of psychological interventions related to nutrition, reducing barriers such as stigma or the costs of traditional interventions while simultaneously increasing overall psychological well-being.
