Yezin University Team

Yezin Agricultural University aims to be a prime mover of agricultural and rural development in Myanmar through human resource development, as well as a national supplier of scientific knowledge and technological innovation. Its mission and organization encompass the education and training of national human resources, in order to be professional agriculturists who will provide leadership and competences to institutions in the agricultural sector, while contributing to rural growth both regionally and nationally. Currently, the university has 1925 students enrolled and 180 academic staff. YAU offers different programs, including crop production (Agronomy, Horticulture and Industrial) protection and improvement, post-harvest and food technology, agricultural biotechnology, crop breeding, soil and water management, agri-business management, lowland, dry land and hillside farming system. Internationalization activities performed at Yezin Agricultural University include EU Projects (Lotus+, Erasmus+, NutriSEA), academic exchange programs, and cooperation projects with partner universities located in South Korea, India, and Australia. 

 

NANG HSENG HOM, Chinlone Local Team. Dr. Nang Hseng Hom serves as Vice-Rector for Administration at Yezin Agricultural University and is also a Member of the Working Group for the National Law on Higher Education. Her main fields of expertise include: plant breeding (climate smart agriculture and GHG inventory); genetics; cytology; agronomy. She is fluent both in English and German, and she holds a Master of Science in Tropical and Sub-tropical Agriculture from the University of Göttingen and a Doctorate in Plant Breeding from the same university.

 



MYO KYWE, Chinlone Local Team. Dr. Myo Kywe is Professor at the Department of Plant Breeding, Physiology and Ecology of Yezin Agricultural University. He holds a PhD in Post-harvest Technology from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT, Thailand), and his main research fields include Cytology and Genetics. He is also the author of many publications in such fields and has coordinated various research projects both domestically and abroad.

AYE AYE KHAING, Chinlone Local Team. Aye Aye Khaing is Associate Professor at the Department of Agronomy of Yezin Agricultural University. She obtained her PhD in Agronomy in 2014 at Kongju National University (South Korea), after having served as Assistant Lecturer from 2008 to 2014. She is author and co-author of many publications in international journals and is involved in numerous research project both in Myanmar and abroad.

 

AYE AYE MYINT, Chinlone Local Team. Dr. Aye Aye Myint is Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Animal Science at Yezin Agricultural University. She holds a PhD from the University of the Philippines - Los Banos (2010) and has an extensive academic experience, firstly as Assistant Supervisor for the Plant Quarantine Office of the Department of Agriculture (1996-1998), and then as Lecturer at the Department of Entomology and Zoology (1998-2015). She authored numerous studies published in international journals and has actively participated in a variety of research projects both domestically and internationally. 

 

NAY MYO AUNG, Chinlone Local Team. Dr. Nay Myo Aung is Head of the Department of Administration at Yezin Agricultural University. His areas of expertise include Agricultural Economics, Development Economics, International Trade. He obtained his PhD from the University of Tokyo (Japan) in 2009, after having served from 1997 as Lecturer at YAU. He authored numerous surveys inside Myanmar with regards to sugarcane farmers, hybrid and traditional maize varieties, rice industry, climate change, and smallholder rice farmers. Dr. Nay Myo Aung is also involved in a variety of international research projects and has participated in many international symposiums.
