Yangon University of Economics Team

Yangon University of Economics (YUECO) was founded in 1964 and it is one of the leading universities in Myanmar. It carries out its academic programs through several learning frameworks: the regular system, the human resource development system, and online learning system. Currently, YUECO provides 6 certificate courses, 7 diploma courses, 8 Bachelor’s degree programs, 9 Master’s degree programs and 3 Doctoral degree programs, with more than 6000 students enrolled each year. Its mission contemplates the implementation of diversified, multidisciplinary, and quality courses to meet national as well as regional demands and requirements, which are designed to maximize students' employment in the field. Consequently, YUECO has recently established new graduate programs at the Centre of Excellence (Hlaing Campus) in Accounting, Public Administration, Development Studies and Population Studies. At the moment, the university is involved in the ASEAN University Network and actively participates in 29 international cooperation projects with foreign HEIs, with the aim of expanding its network of exchange programs targeted at students, faculty members, and admins. 

MOE MOE KHAING, Chinlone Local Team. Dr. Moe Moe Khaing currently serves as Full Professor, Head of the Department of Management Studies, and Director of the MBA Program at Yangon University of Economics. Her main areas of expertise include Business Ethics and Business Management, and she is also the coordinator of YUECO Annual Career Forum and Career Fair. In addition, Dr. Moe Moe Khaing administers the Myanmar-Indian Entrepreneurship Development Centre (MIEDC), the Centre of Excellence for Business Skill Development (CEBSD) in partnership with UNESCO, and is Project Officer in the framework of the Southeast Asian Social Innovation Network (SEASIN) project.

THIDA KYU, Chinlone Local Team. Dr. Thida Kyu currently serves as Professor at the Yangon Institute of Economics of YUECO, where she teaches econometrics and infrastructure economics. She is also Head of Department at the Department of Economics and Director of the Master Program on Development Studies. Dr. Thida has conducted relevant researches concerning infrastructure development, economic development and private-public partnership, and obtained her PhD in 2008 from Yangon Institute of Economics. Her PhD dissertation, ‘The role of Infrastructure in Economic Development of Myanmar (1988-2005)’, was awarded as best PhD thesis for 2009 by Myanmar Arts and Science Association 

 

TUN AUNG, Chinlone Local Team. Dr. Tun Aung currently serves as Pro-rector at Yangon University of Economics. He received his PhD in Economics from Yangon Institute of Economics in 2004, and was firstly appointed as Associate Professor (2008) and then as Full Professor (2009). Dr. Tun Aung has been Visiting Fellow at Nagoya University (Japan) and authored numerous articles on national and international journals devoted to Business and Administration. He also participated in many international conferences and symposiums.

MAW MAW KHIN, Chinlone Local Team. Dr. Maw Maw Khin currently serves as Professor and Head of Department at YUECO, where she teaches Statistics. She received her PhD in Statistics from Yangon University of Economics in 2011, and has authored numerous studies and articles concerning the socio-economics conditions of Myanmar's rural communities, the development of the national banking sector, and the key features of the local fish industry. Additional research interests include time series analysis, econometrics, and operations research.
