1 full-time POST-DOC position (12 months)

The relations between marital status, loneliness and social abilities in healthy elderly: A pilot study

The appointment will be for one year (12 months).

Globally, the number of persons living with dementia is increasing. To prevent the trend, modifiable lifestyle factors are reachable targets. Among them, social interaction is a promising domain for designing cognitive decline prevention paths. Social support, marital status, loneliness, and the level of satisfaction concerning social relationships are aspects modulating the decline.

By focusing on the three pillars underpinning social cognition, i.e., social perception, social understanding, and social decision-making, the project studies the impact that marital status, perceived loneliness, and social support can exert on healthy elderly.

By considering loneliness and social support as covariates of the level of marriage, the study attempts to disentangle the complexity featuring the interaction between social cognition, social health, and cognitive decline.

The appointment will be for one year (12 months).

Fluent Italian is required to interact with the participants.

Deadline: 16 January, 2023
