Founded in 1434, University of Catania is the oldest academic institution in Sicily and, with over 38,000 enrolled students in more than 100 courses, it is one of the largest at Italian national level. The educational offer is integrated by a postgraduate framework including 20 PhD courses, more than 30 first- and second-level master's degrees, specialisation schools for doctors, archaeologists, pharmacists, physicists, specialists in the legal professions, and also further education courses for school teachers.
