Within Result 3, between November and December 2025 , two one-month technical trainings on mudbrick production were organized by AVSI Foundation, one at the archaeological site of Aqar Quf and the other at Tell Muhammad. Each technical training involved one master builder and five archaeological workers.
The aim of these activities was to train some workers in the fabrication and placement of durable mudbricks to be used for restoration needs at the archaeological sites, particularly in cases where structural deterioration requires intervention. These technical trainings covered the entire process of mudbrick production, from selecting the optimal mixture to ensuring the strength and long-term stability of the finished structure.
From a sustainability perspective, mudbrick structures are extremely effective due to their ability to resist to extreme weather conditions, including very high temperatures affecting the country during the warm season. Moreover, the production process is closely aligned with local economy sustainability, as the raw materials are sourced from local suppliers.
Since this activity will constitute the core business of the new private company dedicated to the maintenance and restoration of mudbrick structures that will be created at the beginning of the next year. This activity falls within the role of cultural heritage as a driver for economic development and inclusion.
