LIFE NatuReef at the 5th UNESCO World Congress of Biosphere Reserves in Hangzhou

From 22 to 26 September 2025, The Po Delta Park of Emilia-Romagna, partner of the LIFE NatuReef project, participated in the 5th UNESCO World Congress of Biosphere Reserves (MAB) held in Hangzhou, China, representing the Po Delta Biosphere Reserve.

The congress gathered delegations from around the world to discuss the role of Biosphere Reserves as models for sustainable development, focusing on biodiversity conservation, ecosystem protection, and the well-being of local communities.

During the working sessions, the Po Delta Park presented its ongoing activities and European projects dedicated to climate resilience and biodiversity conservation through nature-based solutions, including the LIFE NatuReef project.

Participation in the congress provided a valuable opportunity to share experiences and best practices in the restoration and management of coastal and marine ecosystems, fostering international dialogue on innovative and replicable approaches.

Representing the Po Delta Park at this important event were Director Massimiliano Costa and Elena Cavalieri, Head of the Technical and Environmental Office, who showcased the park’s commitment to sustainability and its contribution to the UNESCO MAB network.
