UrbanFarm 2021

UrbanFarm2021: City farming for social, environmental and economic sustainability in the cities of Bologna, Romainville and Napoli.

The third edition of the International Student Challenge UrbanFarm will collaborate with the EU H2020 project Food Systems in European Cities (FoodE, https://www.foode.eu/), bringing students from international and interdisciplinary teams toward the identification of urban agriculture projects enabling to foster sustainability of City/Region Food Systems.

Student teams will be able to choose between 3 different target locations in selected European Cities, namely Bologna (Italy), Romainville (France) and Napoli (Italy).

The best project in each of the target locations will be awarded with a monetary prize of 4'000 Euros for a total jackpot of 12'000 Euros.

Further information on the procedure for taking part in the challenge are included in the Guidebook of UrbanFarm2021.

UrbanFarm2021 will develop project ideas to be further implemented through co-design activities in three selected European Cities, partners of the EU H2020 Project Food Systems in European Cities (FoodE), led by the University of Bologna. FoodE brings together a highly qualified consortium of 24 organizations, including universities, research institutes, SMEs, NGOs, as well as city councils spread across 8 EU countries. FoodE is financed under Horizon 2020, the European Union Research and Innovation Framework Programme (2014-2020) and will run for four years between 2020 and 2024. FoodE aims to accelerate the growth of sustainable and resilient City/Region Food Systems (CRFS) by bringing together citizen-led local food initiatives across Europe. FoodE seeks to build a “Think global, eat local” mindset with a view to addressing pressing global challenges that threaten food security, while boosting the local economy.
