Project Abstract
The site of the project splits the city in two parts, it contributes to the urban and social decay of the area. Our project aims to transform this area into a place for aggregation. In order to do so we are going to create a community cooperative, that will include disadvantaged people, inhabitants of Galleria, institutions or privates that share the same vision. The cooperative will manage:
- The urban gardens (assigned to different families of Galliera, that can either take care of the gardens themselves or ask for help from specialized farmers. The products achieved can be consumed by the inhabitants or left to the cooperative for the sale/restaurant);
- The urban waste farm (it transforms organic waste into fertilizer, besides being a way to reduce waste it will loyal the members of the cooperative);
- The restaurant (the clients will be able to directly see how what they are eating is produced, visiting the aquaculture, the hydroponics and the social gardens);
- Leisure activities (including a cinema, a gym, a book-sharing area, and a co-working zone).
The project grows thanks and through the people: their participation begins in the early steps of the construction making them the real protagonists.
