Giovanni Fontana is co-founder and President of Second Tree, an organisation that works in refugee camps in Greece, and provides training on the inclusion of refugees to municipalities and NGOs in multiple countries. He holds degrees in Middle Age Literature and International Relations. His dissertation on the Ethics of humanitarian intervention was awarded the Fred Haliday best dissertation prize by the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Silvia Maraone is the Director of the Bosnian branch of the Italian NGO IPSIA. As an expert on the Balkans and migration in the region, she coordinates projects to protect refugees and asylum seekers along the Balkan route in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia. She is involved in international cooperation, youth work and international voluntary work. She loves writing and journalism, collaborates with trade magazines, co-authored the guide book 'Sarajevo' and has a personal blog.
