He is a Geography professor at the University of Trieste. His interest centres on historical cartography, human and cultural geography, with regard to the dynamics of migration flows along the Balkan route and the widespread hospitality for asylum seekers and refugees in Italy.

He is a researcher at ARAID, the Research & Development Foundation of Aragon, in the Geography Department of the Universidad de Zaragoza (Spain). PhD in Geography from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he has been steadily contributing to the field of Migration and Border Studies, publishing in journals such as Political Geography, Antipode, and Geopolitics. He is a founding board member of the NGO Border Forensics, and a Section Editor for Oxford Intersections: Borders. He is currently investigating the citizenship regime in Spain as a case of racial preference.

She is Associate Professor at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Geography, Serbia with strong interests in migration topics. Her MA focused on internal migration flows toward capital city of Belgrade, while her PhD was related to spatial aspects of population phenomena through distribution characteristics, forms of spatial structures, connections and relationships between demographic elements, and other spatial systems as dynamic and temporally variable categories.
