Vasiliki Makrygianni participated in the workshop as part of the project ‘Collective caring in and against urban crises: solidarities, networks and infrastructures’
Date: 17 JULY 2025
Event location: Online/University of Manchester - Online event
On July 17 Vasiliki Makrygianni participated in an online workshop on “Transnational solidarities,” as part of the project ‘Collective caring in and against urban crises: solidarities, networks and infrastructures’ organised by Matina Kapsali (Geography Department, University of Manchester, UK) and Mantha Katsikana (Geography, York University Canada). The workshop brought together researchers, community actors, artists, and policymakers to discuss ethical and sustainable forms of collaboration across institutional and geographical boundaries. Focusing on feminist and Southeastern European perspectives, the session examined how transnational solidarities can be cultivated in times marked by neoliberal restructuring, urban precarity, and a deepening crisis of care and social reproduction. Vasiliki contributed to the workshop by addressing issues of standpoint and positionality, as well as solidarity and care when engaging with migratory communities as well as with the academic community. Participating at the workshop provided a valuable opportunity to share aspects with various stakeholders and colleagues from Greece, Spain, UK and Canada and communicate the research developed within The GAME ERC project.
