 On December 6, 2024, Yolanda Weima presented research from TheGame at the annual one-day conference of the Italian Society for Geographical Studies (Società di Studi Geografici - SSG) at the University of Florence. This year the theme was “Oltre la globalizzazione (Beyond Globalization): Transizioni/Transitions. 

Yolanda participated in a series of three linked sessions on Routes and route-making in contemporary migration and border regimes, organized by Paolo Cuttitta (University of Genova). Sebastian Cobarrubias (University of Zaragoza) acted as discussant. The presentations across the three sessions covered a range of related topics, from addressing deaths within migratory routes, to the theorization of what a route isrepresents. Yolanda’s presentation was entitled TheGame: Assembling geographies of the Balkan Route (co-authored with Claudio Minca.) This presentation gave an overview of TheGame ERC project, including research and outputs to-date.
